Hey friends!
Who loves marshmallows?
EVERYONE
I don’t know about you, but some of my favourite summer nights are those spent around a campfire. My favourite part about those nights are the s’mores–aside from the great company of course. With the weather getting colder, bon fires are becoming less common. How will I get my gooey marshmallow fix??
Look to Pinterest to find the solution! I found a pin for a “S’mores Dip,” and it seemed like it may make a good substitute for when it gets too cold to get outside.
All you need is a cast-iron skillet, chocolate chips, marshmallows, graham crackers, and an oven.
Preheat your oven to 450°F while you get all your stuff together!
First I measured out about a cup of chocolate chips. I did half semi-sweet, and half milk chocolate.
Next cut a bunch of marshmallows in half! I used kitchen shears to make it easier.
They should end up looking like stumpier versions of what they were before.
Next, fill the bottom of your skillet with your chocolate chips.
Next you put your newly stumpified marshmallows on top of that chocolate layer.
Beautiful, isn’t it? Your oven should be heated to 450°F by now, so go ahead and throw the skillet in the oven.
Next is my favourite part…waiting. I hate waiting, but this time wasn’t as bad because I got to see the marshmallows puffing up and getting more golden by the second. Look how snuggly they look!
This is the final product! You serve it with graham crackers, and eat it like you would a dip.
It sure does look impressive, and it tastes pretty good too!
It turned out pretty well. The only down side is that not all of the chocolate chips were melted. You can kind of see a few of the unmelted chips in the next photo.
If I were to ever make this recipe again, I would warm up the skillet a little bit to help the chocolate melt. You don’t want it to be too hot though, because burnt chocolate doesn’t taste very good! Maybe putting the skillet in the oven while it is preheating would do the trick. If I ever try this again, I’ll let you know what works!
Overall, this was an easy trick to satisfy a craving for s’mores! Try it out for yourself and let me know how it worked for you!
Cheers!
Hailey
P.S. If you have any pins you’re wanting to try out, but are too scared or busy to do it yourself, send them my way and I’ll be your own personal guinea pig! hailey.g@hotmail.com
